From Lower School Director, Cynthia Harris: With more than ten years of experience in corporate and school administration, Andrea brings a strong combination of organizational expertise, flexibility, and a student- and family-centered approach to her role in the Lower School. She is well equipped to build and maintain systems that support the efficient day-to-day operation of the school while responding thoughtfully and promptly to the needs of students, families, and faculty. Beyond the administrative responsibilities of her role, Andrea is passionate about making a meaningful impact on the school community. She enjoys helping students and families navigate their school experience, celebrating their accomplishments, and ensuring they feel supported, welcomed, and connected to the unique community and philosophy of The Roeper School.

What are one or two highlights of your life?
Marrying Adam Derington, and Adopting our cat Raisin!
Where are you from, and what would you like to share about yourself and your family?
I'm from Berkley Michigan.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I enjoy working in the theatre doing whatever I can get my hands on; hair, makeup, set, props, etc. I help at Stagecrafters and Birmingham Village Players in my free time.
What is a topic or skill that you love to teach or share and why?
I love stickers and "junk journaling"- using stickers, trash and other memorabilia to scrapbook. I also love creating bracelets using macrame.
Why Roeper?
My path in education was not a singular road but a overgrown forest with no right answer or direction. I know that Roeper gives students the tools to navigate the ambiguity of the world, and use their skills in multifaceted ways to discover their strengths while creating an impact they can see.
What's something most people don't know about you?
I used to be a party princess- celebrating birthdays and special events as characters such as Elsa, Rapunzel, Belle and more!
